Privacy Policy
PawBridge ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
When you use PawBridge we may collect:
- Account information — your display name, email address, and password when you register. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
- Listing content — pet details, photos, location, and contact information you enter when creating an adoption, lost & found, or directory listing.
- Pet records — documents such as vet certificates or vaccination records you voluntarily upload to an adoption listing.
- Application messages — messages you write when applying to adopt a pet.
- Usage data — standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited.
- Preferences — your chosen light/dark theme, stored in your browser's
localStorage.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Publish and manage pet listings on your behalf.
- Show contact details to other signed-in users when you enable public contact on a listing.
- Send transactional email notifications — for example, to tell you when someone applies to adopt your pet, or when your listing is approved.
- Detect and prevent abuse, spam, or violations of our Terms of Service.
- Improve and maintain the platform.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Sharing of information
Your information is shared only in the following circumstances:
- Listing contact details — if you enable "Show my contact details publicly" on a listing, your phone number and email address are visible to any signed-in user who views that listing. If you keep this setting off, contact details are never shown.
- Pet records — documents you upload to an adoption listing are accessible to any signed-in PawBridge user who visits that listing. Upload only records you are comfortable sharing with prospective adopters.
- Service providers — we use Supabase (hosted on AWS) for our database and file storage, and may use a transactional email provider (AWS SES). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required to do so by Sri Lankan law or in response to a valid legal process.
4. Data retention
We retain your account information and listing data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a listing, its photos and associated records are also deleted from our storage. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at the address below.
5. Cookies and local storage
PawBridge does not use tracking cookies. We store your light/dark theme preference in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
Our hosting infrastructure (Supabase, Vercel) may set essential session cookies necessary for authentication to function. These are not used for tracking.
6. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and signed short-lived URLs for sensitive documents. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Withdraw consent to receive email notifications at any time by contacting us.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@pawbridge.lk.
8. Children
PawBridge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of PawBridge after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
